Summer is here!
04-06-2010
Are you ready to proudly wear your swimsuit? If not, don't panic! You still have time to get that body you want! If you're not working out now, then START! If you are working out, then it's time to change your routine. You have to get out of your comfort zone if you want to see changes! Not terribly motivated? Get a Personal Trainer or work out with a buddy who can inspire and motivate you!
Get outdoors and get moving!
06-04-2010
Okay, so do you really hate the gym? You don't have to go! Instead, get outside and get moving! We have some of the best weather in the world, here in San Diego, so enjoy it. Get some friends together and let's set up a Pilates class in a local park. We can do other fitness classes too! Get on your bike and take a nice ride. Enjoy a local hike! No matter what it is, make sure you have fun! I firmly believe that fitness should be fun! So, let's enjoy Spring! Get outside and move!
Sticking with that RESOLUTION!
14-01-2010
Well, it's January again, Did you make that goal to lose weight and get fit...again? How can you make 2010 different? I'll tell you how!
First of all, don't overwhelm yourself by choosing an unrealistic goal. "I'll lose 20 lbs in 2 months," is daunting and unrealistic. "I'll lose 20 lbs, one lb at a time this year," is a lot better! Also, "I'll go to the gym for 2 hours, 7 days a week," will NOT last. You will get burnt out, frustrated, bored and likely injured. If you've never worked out before, start with 3 days of exercise per week. Then graduate up to 4, then 5. If you MUST exercise 6 days, make sure you take that 7th day to rest.
Make small, manageable changes with your eating, too. If you LOVE chocolate, then don't tell yoruself you'll never have it again. Simply have less of it, and when you do eat it, really enjoy it! Make changes you can live with, because this is about changing your lifestyle, not depriving and punishing yourself short term.
Yes, 2010 can be the year you get on track and stay there. Set small goals, and celebrate every time you achieve one.
Holiday weight gain!
11-12-2009
Did you know that the average person gains 10 lbs during the holiday season? Don't let that happen to you! Eat a healthy, balanced diet and keep moving. Sure, it's okay to indulge in some of your favorite seasonal treats, but don't overdo it! If you're going to a holiday party and you know there will be tempting treats, make sure you eat ahead of time so you dont' arrive hungry. Then enjoy a small serving of your favorite dish! Oh, and don't skip your workouts! So what if it's cold outside? Get out and get moving! Or, call me, and I'll come train you!
